Snuffy Jenkins Festival

November 7th -- Headlined by Doc Watson and David Holt, along with NC Banjo legend Raymond Fairchild, the famous Snuffy Jenkins Festival returns with a day-long reunion. Phil and Gaye Johnson and many other regional and local favorites will also perform during the celebration honoring the innovative banjo player, comedian, and Rutherford County native, Snuffy Jenkins. 

The festival will be held on the Isothermal Community College campus, home of The Foundation and of WNCW radio, both sponsors of the event. For details and tickets, go to snuffyjenkinsfestival.com.

 

 

Beachside Oyster Roast Bonfire

November 7th -- Enjoy an Oyster Roast Bonfire during peak Leaf Season!  On a Lake Lure beachside at Rumbling Bald Resort and open to all – the oyster roast bonfire will feature an expanded menu with fire roasted oysters, steamed clams, split roasted chickens, special order Maine lobsters and filling side items like baked potatoes and corn on the cob. Food will be served from 5 to 7 pm; but reservations are strongly recommended; oysters will be limited in quantity. Reservations with advanced payment will guarantee your dinner, all other will be first come first served. Please call 828-694-3015 for reservations.

18th Annual Ellenboro Fiddlers' and Bluegrass Convention

November 21st -- The Annual Ellenboro Fiddlers’ and Bluegrass Convention is a day-long competition held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the Ellenboro School Auditorium. Players come from all over the southeast US for this decades-long tradition.

Barbeque supper starts at 4 pm.
Convention: 6:30pm

Directions: Take Highway 74 to Rutherford County. Continue on Highway 74 until you reach the Ellenboro exit. Turn left at the top of the exit ramp. Go a half/mile to a stop sign and turn right. Continue 2 blocks to a traffic light and turn left. Travel 2 more blocks to the next light and turn right. Continue 1 block and then turn left. The Ellenboro School‚ where the Convention occurs‚ will be 2 blocks down on the right. 813 Piney Mountain Church Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040

It's followed by a post plunge party, awards ceremony and "extreme plunges" at the Geneva River Motel in Lake Lure, home to the 1st New Year's Polar Plunge!
