NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SOCIETY and KIDSENSES Present Author DAVID A. AGUILAR

WHO? -

Director of Public Affairs and Educational Programs at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, MA. His expertise is in communicating the wonderment of science to young children.

 

Previously, he was the Director of the Fiske Planetarium and Science Center at the University of Colorado. He is an accomplished astronomy illustrator/naturalist/astronomer and an experienced educator  with an enormous enthusiasm for bringing science to children.

 

David Aguilar is the author of other books on space for young audiences: “11 Planets: A New View of the Solar System” and “Planets, Stars, and Galaxies”.

 

WHAT? -

David Aguilar has written a new book for children ages 7 - 12 on science and space, “Super Stars”.

 

The book is published by NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SOCIETY

 

David Aguilar will be on a book tour that includes PHILADELPHIA and CHICAGO, and now he will be coming to RUTHERFORD COUNTY hosted by KIDSENSES.

 

On his visit here, he will give several 1 hour presentations on space, astronomy, his digital illustrations and his new book.

 

On the day of the event there will be 3 presentations:

10 am & 12pm - Regional schools will be invited to come on a FREE field trip. 

 

Evening - The same evening, David will give a public presentation available through event tickets as a fundraiser for KidSenses educational programs.  Visitors will also experience KidSenses ExplorerDome that will complement the subject matter.

 

WHEN? -

Tuesday, May 25th 2010.  During the school day there will be 2 field trip times:

10 am & 12pm - Regional schools will be invited to come on a FREE field trip.  They will experience an exciting presentation on space science, astronomy, careers in science and his new book.  Students will be able to participate in a Q&A following the presentation.
